Do children get homework?

In our school we do not impose an obligation on students in the form of traditional homework. Instead, in school we create space for motivating and thematically open home activities that encourage students to explore their own interests. This activity can take place at home with parents or in collaboration with classmates, and we love supporting teamwork.

For those interested, we prepare voluntary worksheets that are offered once a week. Their completion is entirely voluntary and serves to support those who wish to engage more deeply with a given topic. In this way, we support the individual interests and motivation of our students.

How will kindergarten and school be separated (entrance, spaces, schedule)?

They will have different access points and doors. This is required by law.

How can parents get involved in the educational process?

We consider parental involvement a key element of a successful educational process. We highly value active parental involvement in various aspects of our school community.

Parents participate in school events such as Demo Days, workshops and lectures. Their participation in parent meetings, where they actively contribute and provide feedback, is invaluable.

Furthermore, we are grateful that parents show engagement by regularly reading the information that we share about school activities and their children's progress. Their active participation enriches our school community, and we greatly appreciate their collaboration in creating a positive and supportive educational environment.

Do you organise events for whole families?

Yes, we are proud to regularly organize family events! Every month you can look forward to our beloved Demodays that offer an inspiring look at the work our students have done. We also organize interactive workshops for parents and children, pre-school activities, orientation dinners and team-building games that also mark the end of the school year. We look forward to these shared moments with our growing family!

How is Flow different from other schools?

FLOW Elementary School is characterized by a holistic approach to education that develops cognitive skills, emotional intelligence, collaboration, and the overall well-being of students. Our future-ready educational programs are built on modern approaches and support children's adaptability in an uncertain 21st century environment. We work with conscious parents and emphasize active family involvement in the educational process.

Who are the teachers at Flow?

Teachers at our school are warm-hearted people with open minds, courageous enough to experiment and focused on elementary education. With emphasis on individual development of students, they monitor their progress and support the uniqueness of each student through their innovative approach.

What after-school activities are available at Flow?

At FLOW we have a range of after-school activities that include various afternoon after-school clubs in collaboration with external partners and specialists. Our offer is flexible and we adapt it each year to the interests of the children. Currently they can participate in various after-school clubs such as space club, yoga, sports and movement club, young scientist and art club.

How does the school support a positive and inclusive educational environment for students?

In our school great emphasis is placed on an individual approach to education. Each student has the opportunity to develop their unique abilities and participate in the educational process according to their interests and capabilities. This approach applies to all students, including those with special educational needs and gifted individuals. We work with external specialists to ensure optimal support and resources for each student.

How is technology integrated into the curriculum?

With children, in preparation for a digital future, we develop algorithmic thinking skills (using various programming tools Scratch and ScratchJr), logical thinking, working with common applications (drawing programs, video editors, presentation tools for team collaboration), understanding of the internet and AI and how computers work. We lead children to critical thinking about the use of technology and safe behavior in the online world. We include emerging methodologies in teaching for teaching ICT (for example AI for children), we work with a developed curriculum for teaching programming to children using block-based tools and applications. For older grades we expand the curriculum to include work with 3D printing and 3D environments and virtual reality.

Do children have access to a psychologist or special education teacher?

Yes, of course! Our school is a strong advocate for the overall development of each student, so we are happy to support and collaborate with our team of specialists. Regularly, our school is visited by a psychologist, special education teacher and speech therapist to provide support and care to children. In this way, students can benefit from expert services and receive individual help if needed. We are proud of this collaboration, which strengthens our efforts to create an environment where each student can reach their full potential.

My child doesn't speak English. Is that a problem?

Lack of English is not a problem. Our school is open to these children and welcomes everyone with an individual approach. 🙂

Do you organise outdoor education trips?

Yes, we are very glad that our school regularly organizes outdoor school trips that include not just traditional teaching, but also fun educational activities, including swimming. This unique experience not only strengthens the learning process but also supports the overall development of our students through activities that combine education and natural environment. We are very grateful for the opportunity to provide our students with this extraordinary educational experience in an inspiring outdoor school setting.

How does the school communicate with parents about their child's progress?

In addition to regular reports in the form of verbal assessment twice a year, we offer parents other opportunities for tracking children's progress. We hold three-way conferences and consultation weeks twice a year, while parents can monitor their children's progress monthly through our school information system. Demodays allow us to showcase the work of our students each month. Whether it's meeting in person, email communication or any other form of contact, we are here for parents whenever they need to reach out and discuss anything they need.

What does English teaching look like?

In the English program at FLOW School we combine innovative project-based teaching with accredited Cambridge courses, with emphasis on a practical approach to language with focus on authentic conversation rather than monotonous grammar. Currently we have two native English speakers at FLOW, one from the United Kingdom and another from the USA, which opens doors for our students to experience different accents and dialects.

Technology is essential in our school and plays a key role in English lessons. Using tablets, computers and modern applications, we provide our students not only with the opportunity to be integrated into today's digital world, but also create an engaging educational environment that supports their active participation and involvement.

How many teachers are in the classroom during lessons?

The team works in collaboration with a Czech teacher or English native speaker and a teaching assistant. Our teams receive support from a child psychologist, special education teacher, educational methodologists and speech therapist. We also work with external specialists to develop competencies and educational programs connected to the real world.

How many children are in each class?

We have set a maximum capacity of 24 children per class, although the current number is still somewhat lower. This ensures that each child has enough space and attention for optimal education.

What does a typical school day look like?

In the morning at our school it is possible to start from 7:30, when the doors open for the morning program. Shortly after, at 8:15, we begin the day with a morning circle, before we dive into intensive teaching. This consists of two ninety-minute blocks, separated by a break and snack time.

After the morning effort, children rest during the lunch break, followed by the last afternoon block of lessons. After lessons end, there is an opportunity to participate in the afternoon program or join favorite after-school clubs. The school stays open until 5:00 PM, providing space for further activities and greater flexibility for parents. This way we try to create an environment for students where learning is interwoven with joy and opportunities for rest and pursuing interests.
